At Dunwood Manor, nursing care goes beyond the clinical—it is the heart of our commitment to excellence, compassion, and dignity. Our highly trained nursing team is on hand 24/7 to provide personalised medical and daily support to older adults with a wide range of health needs, from chronic conditions to post-operative recovery. We understand that no two individuals are the same, which is why we create tailored care plans that reflect each resident’s physical health, emotional wellbeing, and personal preferences.
Set in a beautifully refurbished Edwardian manor surrounded by 12 acres of peaceful gardens, Dunwood offers the perfect blend of professional care in a warm, homely environment. Whether managing complex medication schedules, supporting mobility, or assisting with daily routines, our staff approach every task with patience, empathy, and respect for individual independence.
Each resident is assessed on arrival, and a comprehensive care plan is created in collaboration with families and healthcare professionals. This plan is reviewed regularly to ensure it evolves with the resident’s changing needs. Our nursing staff are trained in a broad range of specialisms, including wound care, diabetes management, continence care, post-stroke support, and fall prevention, ensuring that high-quality care is always available onsite.
In addition to physical care, we place a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing and quality of life. We encourage residents to engage in social activities, pursue hobbies, and maintain meaningful connections with loved ones. With our inviting communal spaces, private en-suite rooms, and sun-filled gardens, Dunwood Manor is more than a care home—it’s a supportive community designed to feel like home.
Nutrition also plays a critical role in nursing care. Our chefs prepare fresh, nutritious meals daily, tailored to meet medical requirements such as diabetic or low-sodium diets, while still delivering variety and flavour. Meals are served in bright, welcoming dining spaces, encouraging residents to enjoy mealtimes as a social experience.
What truly sets Dunwood Manor apart is the way our team integrates clinical precision with a deeply human touch. All staff receive ongoing training to stay updated on best practices in elderly care, but we also value personal qualities like kindness, patience, and the ability to listen. We know that trust is built over time, and every member of our team works to earn it daily through attentive, respectful, and consistent care.
For families, choosing nursing care is a significant decision. At Dunwood Manor, we aim to make that decision easier by offering transparency, communication, and complete peace of mind. From regular care reviews and updates to open-door visitation policies and family support, we ensure you remain closely involved and reassured every step of the way.tion text goes here

Dementia care at Dunwood Manor is rooted in empathy, expertise, and an unwavering respect for the individuality of each resident. We understand that dementia affects more than memory—it touches every aspect of a person’s daily life, relationships, and identity. That’s why our dedicated Beeches Wing is specially designed to meet the unique cognitive, emotional, and physical needs of those living with Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, and other memory-related conditions.
The Beeches Wing offers a secure and thoughtfully adapted environment that reduces confusion, supports orientation, and promotes calm. From low-glare lighting to colour-coded cues, visual landmarks, and familiar furnishings, every detail is intentionally designed to provide safety, comfort, and a sense of place. Residents have access to a secure garden, allowing them to enjoy nature and fresh air while maintaining their independence in a risk-free space.
What truly defines dementia care at Dunwood is our person-centred approach. Each resident’s journey begins with a comprehensive life history, enabling us to understand who they are beyond their diagnosis. By learning about their past experiences, values, and preferences, we tailor activities, routines, and interactions to spark connection and preserve their sense of self. Whether it’s music from their youth, a favourite hobby, or simply a preferred way to spend the morning, our care is shaped by the individual—not the condition.
Our team members receive specialised dementia training and are equipped to respond with patience, skill, and empathy. Many hold Level 3 Awards in Dementia Awareness and have previous experience in community, hospital, or residential settings. Beyond their qualifications, our staff possess the human qualities that matter most in dementia care: compassion, attentiveness, and the ability to bring warmth and reassurance to every interaction.
Maintaining daily structure and familiar routines is central to our care model. Residents are gently guided through their day with purposeful activities, shared mealtimes, and plenty of social engagement. Our activities coordinators lead tailored programmes that stimulate memory, encourage movement, and foster joy—whether through arts and crafts, gardening, storytelling, or therapeutic music sessions. Outings in our minibus to local gardens, churches, or scenic spots in the New Forest are also part of life at Dunwood, offering meaningful connections to the world beyond.
Nutrition, hydration, and sensory wellbeing are closely monitored. Mealtimes are a social highlight, with food served in bright dining areas designed to promote appetite and comfort. Our chefs adapt meals for texture, ease of digestion, and familiarity, ensuring dining remains a pleasurable and nourishing experience.
Dementia may change the way someone experiences the world—but it never changes their worth. At Dunwood Manor, we honour that truth by providing care that upholds dignity, nurtures connection, and brings peace to residents and their families. With open communication, ongoing support, and a trusted, compassionate team by their side, families can rest assured knowing their loved one is in safe and caring hands.

End-of-life care at Dunwood Manor is delivered with deep compassion, clinical excellence, and quiet dignity. We understand the profound significance of this stage—not just for the individual, but for their family, loved ones, and wider care network. Our goal is to ensure that every moment is as comfortable, peaceful, and meaningful as possible, with personalised support that respects each resident’s wishes, values, and spiritual needs.
Situated in the Willows Wing, our dedicated palliative care space offers a tranquil and private environment within the calm, natural beauty of Dunwood’s 12-acre estate. The home’s heritage-rich charm and serene surroundings create an atmosphere that fosters stillness, reflection, and comfort—allowing residents and families to focus on what matters most.
We take a holistic approach to end-of-life care, attending to physical symptoms, emotional wellbeing, spiritual considerations, and practical concerns. Pain management, symptom relief, and dignity-preserving nursing care are delivered around the clock by a team of qualified professionals, many of whom have extensive experience in hospital and hospice settings. Our team members hold Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Adult Care, and their clinical skills are matched by their emotional sensitivity, ensuring that support is not only effective—but deeply human.
Care plans are created in close partnership with residents (where possible), their families, and external healthcare providers. These are regularly reviewed to accommodate evolving needs and to uphold individual preferences, whether that means quiet privacy, more time with loved ones, or participation in spiritual or religious rituals. We believe that every resident deserves agency in how their care is delivered, especially at life’s most vulnerable stage.
Communication with families is a cornerstone of our approach. We offer open, transparent dialogue at all times and encourage families to be closely involved in decision-making. Our staff are trained not just to support residents, but to provide guidance, comfort, and reassurance to loved ones during what can be a difficult and emotional time. We also assist with coordination of outside services—whether it’s a GP, chaplain, hospice liaison, or bereavement support provider—ensuring continuity of care and peace of mind.
Beyond medical needs, we believe in the healing power of connection and memory-making. Residents are encouraged to participate in gentle activities, social engagement, and even outings when appropriate. The opportunity to enjoy a favourite meal, listen to music, spend time in the garden, or simply share quiet moments with family can bring comfort and joy in immeasurable ways.
At Dunwood Manor, end-of-life care is not about the end—it’s about honouring life, even in its final chapters. With clinical excellence, compassionate presence, and a serene environment designed for rest and reflection, we help individuals live their final days with the dignity, love, and comfort they deserve.

For residents recovering from illness or surgery, this level of expertise provides peace of mind and often accelerates the healing process.
Beyond clinical support, we understand the importance of emotional wellbeing. Our activities team works tirelessly to ensure that even short stay residents feel engaged and included. Whether it’s afternoon tea on the terrace, group craft sessions, light exercise, or scenic minibus outings to the New Forest, every day offers opportunities for connection and enjoyment. Many of our respite guests find the experience not only restorative but genuinely uplifting—an important step toward regaining independence and confidence.
Mealtimes at Dunwood are a highlight. Our chefs prepare fresh, seasonal menus daily, catering to dietary needs and personal preferences. Meals are served in bright, sociable dining rooms, though residents are also welcome to dine privately in their rooms if preferred. Great care is taken to make mealtimes feel homely, enjoyable, and nutritionally balanced.
For caregivers, respite care provides the opportunity to rest, recharge, and focus on their own wellbeing—knowing that their loved one is in safe, professional hands. For residents, it’s a chance to experience expert care, compassionate support, and the invigorating effects of a change in environment.

"My father was offered a place at Dunwood Manor Nursing Home on 2/1/24, after spells in and out of the hospital over a 7-month span. It’s been the best thing that could have happened to dad. The staff are first class. They are very caring and help dad settle in from the word go. The nursing care at this moment in time is first class. There is a good atmosphere in the home, with friendly smiling friendly faces. The food is prepared in the kitchen and my father says the food is very good, and plenty of it. Overall I am very pleased with the way things are going 10 out of 10."
